{April 25, 2008}   Lighting your bathroom: bathroom lighting

Installing new lights to your bathroom can be a very easy job. It’s up to you to decide whether you want general light or decorative light in your bathroom. Bathroom lights are installed in two different layers. The first layer is responsible for providing you with the brightness and the second layer is used to provide task lighting. Note that second layer lighting is not suitable for all bathrooms. These lights are mostly installed on top of mirrors, showers and cabinets. First layer lighting of general lighting is used to give an overall light so they are installed on ceilings. You can always install a couple of small windows in your bathroom to provide you with some natural light. In most cases a 2 to 4 watt of light is suitable for a square foot. So when determining the amount of light you have to consider the length and width of your bathroom.

When installing bathroom lights three main factors are considered, these are your own preference, decor and the size of the bathroom. These three factors help in determining the right amount of lighting need for your bathroom. Cost is another factor but in this case it’s not too much and you can easily purchase good quality of lighting.
