Even as the US economy deteriorated, Intelius increased their philanthropic activities in 2008, while many companies were reducing their charitable giving. Intelius, a leading public records and identity protection services provider ramped up its contributions to philanthropic organizations, particularly ones found in the Bellevue, Washington area.
Headed by Naveen Jain, Intellius, which started out in 2003, gave over $200,000 to several nonprofit and national organizations in 2008 alone. The year’s contributions have given a new corporate charitable record for the company that has only 191 employees.
According to Intellius CEO Naveen Jain, “Our country is facing an unprecedented number of people in need and we felt it was our responsibility to step up when the economy forced others to step back. I am inspired by the amazing work done by the nonprofit groups we work with, and I want to instill that passion not only within Intelius, but as an example for others to follow.”
In 2008, Intelius gave to the following charities such as the Bellevue School Foundation, Hopelink, the Overlake Service League, and Treehouse. These nonprofits are mostly based in Washington, and are advocates of healthcare, youth, education, and family issues.
“Like any company we want to be financially successful, but more important than that-we never want to lose sight of our core values and the understanding that we are only as good and productive as the communities we do business in,” said Founder Naveen Jain.
However, for 2009, Intelius expects to increase its philanthropic contributions while continually instilling Naveen Jain’s philanthropic drive among its employees thru their Employee Volunteer Program.
Intelius has encouraged its employees to give back to the community with the said program; the company offers paid leave if an employee dedicates that time to spend volunteer work in an eligible nonprofit.
