There are a number of herbs for menopause that can help treat the symptoms that accompany this challenging stage in every woman’s life. Many of these natural treatments can provide additional health benefits as well, which is why many women are using supplements to offer relief.
As women get older, their bodies lose the ability to produce two very important hormones, estrogen and progesterone. As a result, many body functions that would otherwise be under control are no longer contained. This marks the onset of menopause, which usually starts when a woman is in her early 40’s.
Herbs for menopause can treat the PMS-like symptoms present in early stages, as well as hot flashes, sweats, bone loss, memory loss, vaginal dryness and thinning hair that accompanies later stages.
Although herbal treatments are available as stand-alone products, the more effective menopause supplements contain a variety of herbal extracts working together to offer the most relief.
Some of the more popular natural remedies for menopause include: black cohosh, which can mimic the effect of estrogen; wild yam, containing powerful compounds called isoflavones which can help maintain bone density; dong quai, which can reducing flushing and sweats; and red clover, which can help prevent osteoporosis and regulate mood swings.
These herbs for menopause provide additional health benefits as well, as they all contain powerful natural compounds that can help boost immunity, cardiovascular strength and general wellbeing.
If you are interested in menopause supplements, talk to your doctor to find out more. Although most medical professionals are not familiar with alternative therapies, your doctor may be able to recommend a specialist who can help you choose the herbs for menopause that may work for you.

As many wise women have said, there’s no reason really that we should accept these symptoms as inevitable: menopause is not an illness, it’s merely another stage of life. So why do so many women experience distressing menopausal symptoms? This stage is when the female body ceases to produce eggs, and ceases to shed the lining of the womb. In fact the whole process that’s necessary for procreation comes to a halt. Hopefully, if all goes well, we’ll keep enough of our feminine hormones to keep us looking reasonable and to keep our emotions on an even keel as we glide into our later years.
Exercise and a healthy diet are the places to begin. Since women of menopausal age tend to gain weight rather easily, it’s of great importance to cut down on the amount of food we eat, in addition to monitoring the components of our diet to make sure that we don’t consume too many carbohydrates or too much fat, both of which will add to our girth. Concentrating on plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and a small amount of cold pressed virgin oils will make sure we have enough raw materials to feed our bodies wisely.
Alarmingly, in the past few decades, the medical profession has been encouraging women approaching menopause to supplement their hormones with artificial ones. More recently, they thankfully discovered how dangerous this can be when cancer rates rose significantly in women taking artificial hormone replacement. It’s a mercy to womankind that artificial hormones are now being phased out. Think very carefully before you decide to subject yourself to artificial hormone replacement therapy; natural is always best.
So what can women do to alleviate the worst of the moodiness, hot flashes and weight gain that often accompany menopause? To begin with, there are a number of alternative therapies that women have used successfully to improve their situations. Among them are massage, acupuncture, homeopathy and more. For many women though, these solutions are too time-consuming to be of much real use.
The good thing about natural versions of hormone replacement for menopausal women is that they don’t pose a threat to our health. To the contrary, carefully chosen natural ingredients that have been known for their benefits for centuries can enhance our endocrine systems, support our immune systems, and keep us looking and feeling younger and more vital. We can use these supplements to help us sail through menopause serenely.
If we also manage to keep our diets and exercise levels reasonable, we can expect better and better results. Are there any other supplements we can use to make sure we stay as healthy as possible? Significant supplementation with vitamin E has been known for some time to stave off heart disease in both men and women. Another wonderful reason for taking vitamin E is that it can end hot flashes in women going through menopause.

I am typing on the computer, trying to keep up with the flood of
emails and programs that require my attention, when my 19 month
old comes to me for the fourth time this morning calling
‘potty!’ I rush upstairs to the bathroom when I here the
doorbell…my friends children have arrived as usual, since I care
for them four days a week while their mother takes off for an
adult world I hardly recognize. It is 7:20 am.
Breakfast follows, I set them up and dash to the computer again
to finish what I started, but then the four year olds are
fighting and the one year old has dumped her applesauce on the
carpet. I determine that office environments were created for a
reason. It’s 7:35 am.
Since I am paid to care for these children, I cannot devote much
time to my other business during the days they are in my home.
But that does not stop me from feeding my own children peanut
buttered bread for breakfast and sitting them in front of the TV
from 6:00am until 12:00 on my ‘day off’.
As you can see, or know from experience, working from home in
any capacity is a change to your family’s life no matter what
the business. But as much as I would love to dote on my own
children and spend hours baking and coloring and folding laundry
(RIGHT!), I, like many mothers, have been faced with the choice
of returning to the typical ‘working world’ and passing my
children into someone else’s care, or juggling to bring in an
income while caring for them myself.
Our strategy has been for me to develop an online business while
maintaining an income we can survive on by babysitting. The
babysitting is temporary, and not my first choice, but I do love
the children I care for, and now that we’ve all adjusted I am
going to miss them terribly when we move on.
However, I knew the babysitting was not the long term solution,
and I ache for the independence I read about with internet based
business. So I plug away early morning, nap times and evenings
after the children are in bed. This is how we move towards a
simpler life. Eventually, my kids and my husband will have me
pretty much to themselves. I know that working will always
interfere with living, but this is a solution that I can accept.
My main learning, or coping strategy, is to do things in blocks.
Writing an article is one block. Reading and responding to
emails is another. Feeding the children, taking them for a walk,
or planning an afternoon out (which is what I do with mine every
day off), all combine to make this work-from-home mother’s work
day move forward.
Should my children be classified as part of my work? No,
absolutely I do not view it that way. This is the fabulousness
of working from home. Stressful as it may be at times, I am
choosing a life that allows me to step out of my office (so to
speak) and cuddle on the couch with four little darlings (well,
some of the time!). I can shake off the frustration of figuring
out HTML code by having coffee with my neighbor. This is a life
worth choosing.
So to all you work-from-home mothers (and fathers too), perhaps
balance isn’t always possible, but keeping priorities is. You
can decide that the children must quietly watch a video while
you make a phone call or finish your project, and know that you
are not putting them in second place. Why? Because you are
there. And as long as you know when to put the office ‘away’ and
be there for your children, you are giving them a life that,
while busy and not always easy, it is a life that you are a
bigger part of.
To all of you who take on the important task of raising your
children, while making a living, my congratulations and
encouragement!
Every woman needs at least one little black dress!
It’s the one garment you can always rely on when you are
undecided what to wear. If you have the right dress, you can
simply add some accessorizes for a chic and stunning look.
Let’s look at what makes the perfect little black dress and how
you can wear it for maximum impact.
The height of fashion since 1926
Coco Chanel introduced the little black dress in 1926 and it has
become the symbol of timeless fashion. A fashion must for every
women, the appeal of the little black dress has never waned.
Other trends and fashions come and go, but you will always be
the height of chic with the little black dress.
Here are five tips to look chic for that special evening
1. Identify your key assets and show them off! You can highlight
your back, shoulders arms breasts and legs. Pick a style that
shows of your key assets
2. Choose a dress that’s comfortable and fits well. Your little
black dress should allow you to move, suit walk or dance
comfortably. A knee-ish length (just above, or below) sleeveless
sheath is a safe style to buy that always looks great.
3. Choose a well-constructed dress generally light wool or silk
crepe with a lining are good and comfortable. The lining has the
advantage of smoothing your figure to give the impression of a
perfect fit.
4. Use the 3-1 ratio’ to really standout - Three parts
conservative but use one for a daring touch. A daring touch
would be something like, a low cut back, a daring plunging
neckline, or a deep slit in the side. Always remember to keep
legs bare or in very sheer hose for the classiest look.
5. Accessorize your little black dress to really set off your
look. A standout bracelet, a choker, or killer heels with a slim
matching bag to add the final touch.
Versatility
A Little Black Dress is great for work as well as evening wear.
Wearing your dress with a blazer or sweater and some knee length
boots is a great look for work or an interview.
Your dress can also go on holiday with you and will be perfect
for a stunning look quickly. Be sure to choose a material that
resists wrinkles and dries quickly and you are ready for any
fashion emergency.
Before Coco Chanel made it a fashion color, black was associated
with mourning and death.
The great thing about the little black dress is that it doesn’t
draw attention to itself and looks completely different on
different people.
The little black dress is and will remain a timeless classic, so
make sure you use it to its full potential.
